Cerf PhD Studentship - Competition 2015 - now closed

CERF PhD Scholarship competition 2015 is now closed.

For the third year, Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance is offering a scholarship scheme. Applications are invited for doctoral funding starting in October 2015. Funding is for up to 3 years and includes university and college fees and an allowance for accommodation and living expenses.

The scheme is open to Phd students who do research into all aspects of finance, financial institutions, and financial markets, and their relationship with the performance of the economy. Incoming doctoral students or students who are in the first year of their Phd can apply for funding. Funding is for a 3 year period (no money is given retrospectively for the time already spent in the Phd programme).

Applicants for a CERF scholarship have to be nominated by their Phd supervisor. CERF Scholarship Application form must be received by CERF along with the nomination letter/email by 6 February 2015 (if you require the form in an alternative format or a hard copy, please contact ).

Requests will be made to the applicants’ faculties for a copy of their GRADSAF / PhD application documents (including official transcripts and references).

Reference letters must be sent to  by 11 February 2015. The applications will be considered by a selection committee. Applicants will be informed about the outcome by the end of February 2015 .

The recipient of a CERF scholarship will be expected to report on his/her research progress and actively to engage with CERF by attending relevant seminars, and by giving the occasional research presentation. The CERF scholar may also be required to provide very occasional assistance, including providing support during events organized by CERF. The CERF scholar may be given office space in the CERF premises (subject to availability), and he/she will be given the opportunity to interact with other researchers linked to CERF.

Best Student Paper Award 2021 - competition is now open

For the last 13 years, Cambridge Finance is offering its Best Student Paper Award. The award comprises a cash honorarium of £1,000 and a certificate is awarded to the author of the best student paper in finance presented during the 2020-2021 academic year.
