PhD Title: The Effect of Sovereign Debt on Output, Growth and Inequality.

Abstract:

I wish to focus my research on the channels through which sovereign debt affects output, growth and inequality in the short- and long-term. In the short term, I am interested in the effects of sovereign risk and government debt on business cycles, and the role of stabilisation policies. In the long term, I am interested in the effects of sovereign debt crises on growth, and which policies are most suitable to aid recovery. Incorporating heterogeneity into these models of growth and output fluctuations would further allow me to study the distributional impact of sovereign debt dynamics.
